Nungwi - Turtles and Dolphins

On the island we found a small lagoon where some local villagers were rehabilitating turtles/ making money by charging tourists to see or swim with them.
Nevertheless, the turtles were well looked after and away from the harm of fishermen who sometimes kill them because they scare away the fish.
This one was the largest and at aged 29 years old the eldest they had in captivity.
They are fascinating and beatiful creatures and can live up to around 100 years old.
After the turtle experience we spoke with two Israeli brothers who were planning to head south the next morning to swim with dolphins - it sounded too good to miss.
The captain drives you out on a small boat and then when he is close you can dive in and swim alongside the dolphins.
It is like a very strange military operation - diving into the water on command and then climbing back into the boat a few minutes later.
However, they are so fast that you only just catch a glimpse of them and then they are gone again.
As our time at Nungwi came to an end, we prepared to head to Jambiani on the East coast.
Volleyball at sunset was a popular activity.
